Our Story

Vardiashvili’s Marani

At the Vardiashvili family marani (wine cellar), old traditions live side
by side with the warmth of modern Georgian hospitality.

Our name, “Vardiashvili” carries it’s story. In Georgian, “Vardi” means
Rose, and “Shvili” means Son. This connection is deeply rooted in our
heritage. Roses have always brightened both our home and marani
and they hold a symbolic place in the vineyard: traditionally, a rose
bush was planted at the head of each vine row – a red rose for
Saperavi, and an amber one for Rkatsiteli.

Our Journey and Vision

After decades of devotion to our vineyards and constant refinement,
the Vardiashvili Marani was officially established as a brand in 2018.
Today, we proudly share our portfolio of exceptional wines, shaped by
tradition and perfected over generations.

• Our Mission: To make every visit deeply personal and memorable.
Our family speaks English, Russian, and other languages, and we have
welcomed guests from all over the world.

• Our Future: We are preparing to add cozy cottages to our vineyard,
giving guests the chance to wake up surrounded by vines.

Our Home: The Cradle of Wine

The Vardiashvili family’s historic wine cellar and vineyards lie in the heart of Kakheti, Georgia’s most celebrated wine region, in the village of Vazisubani. Our village sits between the Gombori Range to the west and the wide Alazani Valley with the Caucasus Mountains rising to the east.

Since ancient times, Vazisubani has been known for its outstanding vineyards and winemaking. Its very name means “Vine District,” a testament to its centuries-long connection with the vine.

The Terroir

Our 80–90-year-old vines grow in two prestigious and strictly protected micro-zones (PDOs):

  • Mukuzani (PDO): The perfect land for the Saperavi grape, producing the world-renowned, powerful dry red wine “Mukuzani.”
  • Vazisubani (PDO): The home of exceptional Rkatsiteli grapes, which allow us to craft our distinguished amber wines.

This unique position – between the Gombori Mountains and the Alazani Valley – gives our wines their unmistakable character.

Our Roots

For our family, winemaking is not just a craft – it is a way of life. For 4 generations, we have cultivated the vine with love, patience, and respect for the land. Even in the Soviet era, when family winemaking was restricted, our marani never fell silent. The tradition was kept alive, and the wine kept flowing.

Today, the fourth generation carries this legacy forward – honoring ancient methods while combining them with modern knowledge and a passion for excellence.
